Camp Noel Porter Board
Board Member

Nancy Tennyson

Occupation and Employment: I am currently a member of Trinity Cathedral Church and chair the Outreach Ministry program for Leataata Floyd Elementary School, a 100% poverty school.

Education: I graduated from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and Lifetime teaching credential for K through 14.

Previous Employment: From 1991 to 2013, I was Director of Family Ministries at Trinity Cathedral. Bishop Barry Biesner conferred on me the office and title of Canon in November of 2012.

Episcopalian since: I am a cradle Episcopalian, nurtured and formed at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Orinda, California.

Church Involvement: Trinity Cathedral has been my home church since 1977. I was appointed to the Episcopal Commission for Christian Education (ECCE) in 2004 and served 2 3-year terms representing our Province VIII during that time.  I have served on the Diocese of Northern California Christian Formation Commission since 1998 and helped with the original plan for “Keeping Kids Safe- Safe Church” in our diocese in 1997.

Camp Experience: Camp Noel Porter has been a part of my life since 1984 when my husband, son and I attended our first Labor Day Family Camp with Trinity Cathedral.  Since then I have been very involved in Family Camp programs with of camp breakdown for the winter. My son, Wesley, attended summer camp at Noel Porter for many years and along with many friends and alumni, thoroughly enjoyed Camp Noel Porter every summer.

Why I’m excited to serve on the Camp Noel Porter Board: I am in the second year of a three-year term as a board member of Camp Noel Porter. While the road has been bumpy, I am excited to see a new and better Camp Noel Porter coming along for many generations to enjoy in future years.
