Camp Noel Porter Board
Board Member

Ed Hilton

Occupation and Employment: I currently work as the Director of Technology and Information Services for the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. My role is to implement the District’s technology plan, maintain and secure our network infrastructure, facilitate professional learning in technology for our faculty and staff, as well as organize educational technology integration within our transitional kindergarten through 12th grade classrooms.

Education: I graduated from the Princeton Theological Seminary in 2005 with an M. Div. My undergraduate work was completed in Elementary Education and Liberal Studies at Princeton University and Simpson University.

Previous Employment: In the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District I have taught middle school Humanities, Science, and Math. I most recently worked with at-risk youth in our school district’s alternative education programs supporting students in their plans to graduate high school. I served as the Pastor, Minister of Word and Sacrament of the Truckee Lutheran Presbyterian Church from 2005 through 2014. I served as the Director of Children’s Ministry at the Media Presbyterian Church in Media, PA, and also as Director of Youth Ministries at the First Presbyterian Church of Redding, CA.

Community Involvement: I am an active member of the Optimist Club in Truckee, a leader in our Tahoe
City Cub Scout Webelos den, a member of the Association of California School Administrators, National
Science Teachers Association, and the International Society of Technology Educators.

Church Involvement: I currently serve as the secretary of the Mission Committee at St. Nicholas’
Episcopal Church, Tahoe City. I’ve also served as a pastor, staff member, and in leadership of churches in
PA, NJ, and CA.

Camp Experience: I served for four years in the kitchen and then in leadership of the children’s ministry
program at Hume Lake Christian Camps, Hume, CA. While on the East Coast I served on the The Great
Escape (Middle School Youth), Allentown, PA, program planning team for three years. I have also served as
a pastoral chaplain at Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center.

Why I’m excited to serve on the Camp Noel Porter Board: Camp was and is an integral part of my Christian formation and journey with Christ. After attending camp as a child, I continued to work and serve in various capacities at camps in CA and PA. While attending St. Nicholas in Tahoe City, our son attended Camp Noel Porter as his first church camp experience. It is a privilege to serve on the board and prayerfully consider the possibilities God has provided the diocese through the camp and the strong relationships built at CNP.
